Eventide resident falls while trying to leave through windowMOORHEAD – A 72-year-old woman with dementia fell from a third-floor window while trying to leave a north Moorhead senior care facility early today, police Lt. Jim Nielsen said.
Moorhead police, firefighters and F-M Ambulance responded at 12:52 a.m. to Eventide’s facility at The Fairmont, 801 2nd Ave. N.
Officers arrived to find Eventide staff attending to the woman on the canopy over the patio along the south side of the building.
Firefighters rescued the woman from the canopy. She was taken by ambulance to MeritCare Hospital for injuries that did not appear to be life-threatening, Nielsen said in a news release.
The woman had pushed out the window screen and lowered herself out of the window before falling 18 to 20 feet, Nielsen said.
The woman, who lives on a secured floor, was trying to leave the facility to visit a relative, he said.
