UPDATED 12:20 p.m.

A 75-year-old man from Gully, Minn., has been identified by the Minnesota State Patrol as the fatality victim in a Tuesday afternoon crash near Comstock in southern Clay County.

Gordon R. Benson was killed in a two-vehicle collision at the intersection of Clay County Road 2 and Highway 75.

His identity was released Wednesday by the State Patrol.

The names of two others injured in the crash were released earlier.

David Wieber, 50, of Lidgerwood, N.D., and his son Brock Wieber, 15, were taken to Innovis Hospital with injuries not believed to be life-threatening.

Minnesota State Patrol Trooper Randy Harms said one pickup, driven by Benson, was headed eastbound on Clay County Road 2 and another pickup driven by David Wieber was moving southbound on Highway 75 when the two collided in the intersection. The accident was reported about 5:18 p.m.

A witness behind the eastbound vehicle said it appeared that the pickup failed to yield, according to the State Patrol.

Benson was ejected, and his truck landed on him and caught fire.

Harms said it appeared the victim was dead before the fire started.
