Fire destroys farm shop near Harwood early this morning

HARWOOD, N.D. – A problem with an electric furnace is believed to have caused a fire that destroyed a farm shop near here this morning, the Cass County Sheriff’s Department said.

Firefighters from Harwood and West Fargo responded to the fire at about 3:55 a.m. at the Susan McIntyre farm at 3057 165th Ave. S.E., about 5 miles west of Harwood.

The building was engulfed in flames when the fire was discovered and reported by a family member, Deputy Chris Fix said in a news release.

The shop was primarily used as storage for farm and snow-removal equipment.

The structure and equipment were a total loss. No one was injured.
