Hockey group offers three proposals to Fargo School Board, Huffman resigns position from Metro Sports FoundationThe Fargo School District's Planning Committee on Wednesday heard three proposals by the Metro Sports Foundation that would have the School Board playing a role in helping secure funds to complete the Urban Plains Center hockey arena.
Under the first proposal, the School District would hand over $650,000 for prepaid ice rental to help the MSF satisfy a bank consortium's terms and keep the project on track.
Proposal No. 2 has the School District loaning $650,000 to the Metro Sports Foundation. The amount would be repaid at a rate of $52,000 per year.
The final proposal would extend the School District's lease agreement from 10 to 25 years, with a higher hourly ice rental rate. No money would be prepaid.
All of the deals would have no impact on Fargo taxpayers, according to Dan Huffman, the district's superintendent for business services.
Huffman also said he resigned his position on the MSF board on Friday.
No recommendation was made Wednesday. A decision could come at Tuesday's board meeting.
