Local stocks make returnToday, The Forum is bringing back an extended list of “Stocks of Local Interest” and agriculture futures markets on Page C2.
On Nov. 15, The Forum launched Money & Markets, an Associated Press-generated news page providing a contemporary look at local, national and world financial data.
A key component of the new service was immediate, online computer access to 7,000 stocks, 17,000 mutual funds and 300 exchange-traded funds.
To provide new, forward-looking financial and market data, The Forum chose to reduce stock listings and remove agriculture futures markets with the understanding that many of today’s readers access that information online.
We heard from readers who liked and disliked the change.
Many longtime Forum readers who don’t use or have access to computers requested resurrecting the agriculture and stock elements.
In today’s edition, readers will find 144 “Stocks of Local Interest” listed, 107 more than previously printed in the new format and 23 more than appeared before introducing Money & Markets.
Additionally, a listing of agriculture commodity futures from the Minneapolis Grain Exchange, Chicago and New York Boards of Trade is again being offered for grain, sugar and meat.
To provide space for these changes, foreign currency exchange rates and global market index listings have been limited to those having the most interest locally.
The Forum appreciates the response from readers and encourages readers who have Internet access to check out the variety of financial and market information offered online at www.inforum.com/business.
