Dog bites 2-year-old girl in south Fargo

A dog that bit a 2-year-old girl in the cheek will be quarantined by its owner until authorities determine the animal doesn’t have rabies.

The 13-year-old Pekinese was on a leash in its front yard along Fourth Avenue South when the girl approached the dog and tried to pet it Wednesday evening, Fargo Police Sgt. Jeff Skuza said.

The bite wasn’t considered serious and did not require medical treatment, he said. The dog has no biting history.

The owner was asked to keep the dog away from people for 10 days to ensure it doesn’t have rabies, which is standard procedure, Skuza said.
