Altru Cancer Center to expand, renovateGRAND FORKS, N.D. – Altru Health System here plans to expand its cancer center. The projected cost is more than $3 million.
The expansion is part of a $100 million renovation project announced in 2006.
Last year Altru’s center had 75 percent more patient visits than projected.
In addition to remodeling part of the space and adding 6,000 square feet, a new PET/CT will be installed and operating by October. Position emission tomography (PET) helps determine whether a suspicious growth is cancerous or benign. Computed tomography (CT) provides detailed pictures of a patient’s anatomy.
