ND state employee pay raise ready for Hoeven signature

BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) - The North Dakota Legislature has given its final approval to a compensation package for government workers, which includes 4 percent pay increases this year and next.

The bill requires a minimum raise of $75 monthly for qualifying employee, and continues a fringe benefit of paid health insurance coverage for full-time state workers. Employees are not required to pay a share of the monthly premiums, which are expected to average almost $660 monthly over the next two years.

The North Dakota House voted 90-0 on Monday to give the pay bill final legislative approval. It now goes to Gov. John Hoeven for his signature.

The pay plan is in line with the compensation recommendations Hoeven outlined in his budget proposal to the 2007 Legislature.

The bill is SB2189.
